We are proud to present the six institutions working on setting up the next generation Recharge Living Labs
Based in: Hilversum, the Library at ‘s Gravelandsweg 55 (until 2025)
The joint ambition of the library and heritage partners is to make local history relevant to every citizen in Hilversum. Their vision is to build a network of organizations that provide the data and services needed to achieve this goal. The Hilversum Time Machine will be impact-based, using the Europeana Impact Framework to test assumptions about its relevance to the people of Hilversum, ultimately aiming to strengthen the community’s sense of belonging.
Several business models are considered, but the focus is on the asset and resource sharing model. This model involves the library and heritage partners using shared assets for their core activities and making their assets available for community use. The main challenge is creating a sustainable and enduring distributed infrastructure of data and services that benefits everyone in Hilversum. This requires developing effective ways of working together and designing appropriate agreements for cooperation within this new distributed model.
The development of the new library space, set to open next year, will be the central project around which these efforts are organized. This initiative seeks to integrate the library and heritage resources into a cohesive, community-focused entity.
